(Alina)
A Thank-you Letter
My honest international friends,
How are you !
In 2020, a special new year opened with the outbreak of the “COVID-19”in my country and even the world. From the moment when the pause button was pressed with the lockdown of Wuhan, the people all over the country had never looked like this situation to pay so much attention to the city of Wuhan. During the period when the epidemic broke out in Wuhan, the epidemic situation that was updated online pulled at my heartstrings every day. And during this time I was most concerned about the teachers and friends in Hubei, especially those who were still in school and without families' care.
As far as I know, some friends stayed in Wuhan with the teachers during that time, and some have returned to their hometowns. I want to know whether the epidemic situation in your country is okay or not for those who have returned home. Are you all safe? Here, I hope all of you will be safe and sound.
I hope this epidemic will pass by soon, and I wish all of you could take good care of your family, protect yourself and walk through the darkness before dawn together. Although the epidemic is merciless, there is really genuine emotion in the world. Thank you for your trust and support to China. No matter how far apart, to all of you I will remember fondly.
Because of the epidemic, my plan to invite some of you to come to my city on holiday was forced to be delayed. I hope one day that I could lead you to visit beautiful scenery all over China after this epidemic! But what made me feel relieved and reassured was that every time I contacted with you or talked on the phone all of you could show me good news about your well-being. Every time you keep telling me that "the leaders and teachers of IEC are taking good care of you like family members, protecting you from the threat of viruses at all times. You are being taken care of very well and safely, and I don’t need to worry too much. ” At that time, I really felt at ease and especially moved.
I remember when I first met with you, I volunteered to join the Chinese teaching assistant activity for international students. At first, I just tried to take this opportunity to practice my English communication skills; after in-depth communication with you, I found that even we have different countries and different languages, we could communicate like old friends. When we were chatting on the bench, I could feel your inner loneliness studying in a foreign country. At that time, although I could not provide you with too much help, I always told myself that all of you are so friendly and kind, as long as you need I’ll stand by your side from my inner heart. Since then, a profound friendship has also been formed.
Little things show great love. In this special and difficult period, China and school teachers showed great love and warmed the hearts of every student. During this special time, there is one thing make me touched really:
As I was nearing graduation, I was disturbed by the sudden epidemic. I was planning to return to school to find a job, so some of my important documents left in the school which were difficult to obtain with the lockdown of Wuhan. At first, I was overwhelmed with anxiety but helpless. Later, the epidemic situation in Hubei got better. When I chatted with you again, the atmosphere of the school was not so depressed. When you talked about every time you passed downstairs of my dormitory, you were thinking of me who lived upstairs. Tears welled up in my eyes. When I mentioned my troubles, you immediately comforted me and told me: "It's okay, Alina, I can help you. Even if you can't go back to school, I will try my best to find a way to get the important documents you want. Don’t worry! ” And then you told me you asked the teacher who is responsible for you at the school to help me apply for a permit to get in my dorm next day, and told me not to worry again and again.
When I received my important documents, I didn't know how to express my thanks better but only typing "Thank you!" in the WeChat dialog box. My inner feelings of gratitude are beyond words. I really appreciate your firm belief that you must lend a helping hand when you know my difficulties. I really appreciate that you will try your best when I need you. I really appreciate that you help me contact your teachers and solve the problem for me. Extraordinary periods, extraordinary friendship.
At the same time, I am very touched. I am very grateful to the teachers in the school for taking care of you so safely that I could feel the passing of love.
The most common noun in the world is friend, but the rarest is friend. I don’t know how unpredictable it will be tomorrow. I only hope we can all go back to the place where we met at first, and then we could talk about the past and the future again.
Last but not least, please value highly of yourselves. It’s my great honor to have such a good friend like you; and I appreciate for having this firm trust and understanding with you! I believe that the friendship written by heart must be the longest.
Your Chinese friend,
Zhou yuyuan (Alina)
